New Generational Leadership
Our country needs a bold new direction to
address the ailments that plague our communities. Casting
blame on each other and not working collectively have been
preventing our communities from thriving. Young leaders and
officials must rise up to the occasion. The country will be
in our hands soon. Eventually there will be a Generation X
President of the United States and will we be ready to lead?
It is important now while we are young that we begin to network
and share ideas. Our country is constantly changing and applying
old ideas to new age problems will not work. There is no reason
why we should not be prepare for tomorrow. As in anything
else, I do not know what tomorrow will bring. If you would
have asked me five years ago that America would have been
as vulnerable as it was on Sept 11, I would have not believed
it. Nonetheless we must be prepared for the impossible or
unthinkable. If we band together in a manner that disregards
socio-economic status or race we can achieve great things.
Currently, I am preparing a coalition of
young future leaders. The mission of the coalition is to begin
the networking process with other elected officials, community
leaders, young entrepreneurs and aspiring candidates for public
office. The goal of the coalition would be to motivate young
people 18-35 to become more involved in the political process.
Young people need to understand that today’s decisions
impact their lives tomorrow. As our generation gets older
we must start to consider…what is the condition we want
to leave our country in for our children. We will be the leaders
that determine that.
