Abrahams captures 85% of vote in Legislative race
“I am deeply honored and humbled by the ongoing support of my constituents,” said Legislator Abrahams. “I believe that I serve my constituents best by putting their needs at the top of my priorities and I will continue to serve everyone in the First District to the best of my ability. I have worked hard on numerous issues, such as quality of life, public safety and economic growth because I know these are important to the residents of my district.”.
Legislator Abrahams handily beat his Republican opponent Dale Anthony Edmunston, by a 7,899 to 1,319 vote. “I believe the numbers illustrate a clear mandate from the people that they like what I have been doing and that they want me to continue,” said Legislator Abrahams. Conservative Timothy Hoist received 122 votes.
Looking to the future, Legislator Abrahams and his Majority colleagues will be supporting the County Executive’s initiative to address the inequities in the school funding formulas for Long Island’s schools.

With the win, the Democratic majority keeps its 10-9 edge over the Republicans in the legislature and allows County Executive Thomas Suozzi to move forward on his agenda of restoring fiscal health to Nassau County.
