Quality of Life
Most people would agree that when you mention
the phrase “quality of life” they would indicate
that it has deteriorated. More people are witnessing the education
their children are receiving is not nearly as good as it was
twenty years ago. Some of the reasons include their community
is overcrowded, the services from local and state governments
have drop off dramatically, their community is riddled with
underdevelopment and low paying jobs that don’t coincide
with their community expenses, and finally they are paying
more taxes. Somewhere along the line we have become disconnected
with what makes our communities whole. There are more kids
on the streets and the answers we give to address that is
put more police on the streets. Proactive thinking such as
community centers, better parks, and youth activities have
abandoned local officials way of thinking.
Restoring the “Quality of Life”
will not be easy, but developing a partnership between the
local community and government should guarantee a favorable
outcome. Each of us need to take back our blocks one by one.
When an area is taken back block by block we can call it a
community. As we take community by community back we have
a County. County by County we have a State. State by State
we have a Country and that is the ultimate goal.
Government’s Role should be:
• Ensure there are quality jobs in
the area
• Provide more funding for schools
and educational programs
• Access to quality healthcare (hospital
care)
• Services are maintained (road maintenance,
park enhancement, and etc)
• Current local laws are enforced
• Maintain senior citizen services
• Environmental protection of wetlands
and nature preserves
• Noise and pollution ordinances should
be enforced
• Social programs to assist those
in need
• Programs to develop family values
• Developing innovative recreational
activities
• Maintain a low crime level
• Keep taxes low
• Downtown revitalization and community
beautification
